Holmium:YAG Laser Safety

Target Audience

Anyone who uses, or supports the use of a Holmium YAG laser. This could include physicians, nurses and ancillary staff who need to learn about the safety requirements when using this wavelength. Only nursing CE credit is available.

Course Overview

This course reviews the properties of laser light to provide a foundation for the safety considerations that are required when using the 2100 nanometer Holmium:YAG laser wavelength.

Learning Objective

  • Discuss the characteristics of the Holmium:YAG wavelength
  • Identify the tissue effects of the Holmium:YAG laser in current clinical applications
  • Apply the fundamentals of laser safety to the clinical practice setting
  • Identify the components of the Holmium:YAG laser system, delivery devices and accessory instrumentation
